Church Wedding
At St Mary the Virgin Church Layer Marney we’re delighted to welcome wedding couples. You can marry in church regardless of your beliefs: you don’t need to have been christened or be a regular churchgoer. By getting married in church you’re asking for God’s blessing on your life together – the best start you can have.
The wedding service is central to one of the most important days of your life. So we’ll do everything we can to ensure you prepare for your married life together and that your service is really special.
Ceremony Wedding
Ceremonies usually take place in the Corsellis Room, a beautiful room with ancient oak timbers and Mulberry wall hangings, which will seat up to 120 guests. The ceremony may be personalised with your choice of readings and music, arranged with approval from the registrars.
There are two smaller rooms also licensed for civil ceremonies – Tuke’s Chamber which can accommodate up to 40 and the Hall of the House, which will seat up to 18.
Ceremonies which are not followed by a reception at Layer Marney Tower may take place any time from 10am – 1pm on any day. The booking will be for 1 hour, giving time for the ceremony and photography.
Reception
Most wedding receptions at Layer Marney take place in the Long Gallery, a magical space that can be transformed into the reception venue of your dreams. Whether you open the windows and let in the summer sunshine, or draw the curtains, light the fire and enjoy a banqueting feast, the Long Gallery may be shaped to your wishes. The Long Gallery will seat up to 140 guests and can accommodate up to 180-200 people in the evening.
Where you have a smaller number of guests and do not wish to dance, there is the option of using Tuke’s Chamber for your ceremony and the Corsellis Room for your wedding breakfast. This arrangement works well for up to 50 guests.
Barn
The newly refurbished barn is a perfect blend of rustic and modern. The Barn is perfect for any time of year keeping it warm in the winter with paved heated flooring and large doors that can be opended in the summer months.
Boasting modern lighting which is lit elegantly during the wedding breakfast then transforms in the reception ready for your evening guests to arrive and party the night away.
HoneyMoon Suite
All receptions at Layer Marney include an overnight stay in the Honeymoon Suite – known as the de Zoete Rooms – and use of the chauffeur driven 1930’s Rolls Royce. At the end of your wonderful day, the bridal suite will be found just across the courtyard. Known as the de Zoete Rooms, the suite includes a magnificent four poster bed, and a bathroom with walk in shower and double ended bath. The bridal suite is available from 1pm on the day of your wedding, until 11am the following morning.
